Jahmoy Colquhoun joined the University of Maryland, Baltimore Police Department (UMBPD) three months ago. Since then, she’s been helping to move the department forward.

The administrative assistant has been helping to launch scheduling software in the department —  a huge undertaking and big accomplishment. Learning new systems to complete daily reports and activities can be a challenge, but Colquhoun has mastered the systems over time. 

“My favorite part of being an administrative assistant is working with people in different positions,” she says. “It allows me to learn more about the department and all the moving parts that keep it running.”

Colquhoun became an administrative assistant because it was the next step forward to reaching her career goal of becoming a cybersecurity analyst. She encourages students to work for the University while attending school. 

“Finding a way to pay for school can be very stressful,” she says. “Working for the University can relieve some of that stress.”

Outside of work, Colquhoun likes to spend time with her family.
