Ariel Turned has been with the University of Maryland, Baltimore Police Department (UMBPD) for two years, but this month, she starts her new role as quartermaster.

Previously, Turner served as security supervisor. “I’ve been working for police agencies for the past 10 years,” she says. “I’ve had the opportunity to work as a quartermaster part-time along with being security supervisor. It’s something that I truly enjoy doing.”

Turner has accomplished a lot over the past two years. She became the training ambassador for new security officers at UMBPD. She enjoys working with other people, getting to know them individually and keeping them motivated.

When security officers learned that Turner would be leaving her role to become quartermaster, many expressed their sadness that she would be leaving their section. “It truly makes me feel like I’ve done a good job,” she says.

Turner says her transition to quartermaster is an exciting next step in her career. “I’m most looking forward to learning all the ins and outs and doing what I love to do: organizing!”

Turner says she plans to stay with the UMBPD family “for as long as they’ll have me.” Outside of work, she likes to watch true crime shows, read books, spend time with her daughter and her friends, and have fun. Turner says she also loves to nap! “It’s one of my hobbies, and I’m not ashamed,” she says. “Naps are essential self-care.”
