Anigel Walls

Police Communications Operator (PCO) Anigel Walls is always up for a challenge. “My favorite part of the job is being challenged and helping our University of Maryland, Baltimore [UMB] community,” she says.

Walls joined the UMB Police Department just two months ago. Before joining UMB, her most memorable moment was dispatching officers to help the Baltimore City Fire Department rescue a child who was locked in a vehicle.

“I take pride in my job,” Walls says. “My biggest achievement so far is proving all the naysayers wrong and transitioning successfully into this job.”

As a PCO, Walls tries not to take calls too personally. “Sometimes it could be your friend or family member calling for help,” she says. “I just have to tell myself, ‘You have a thick skin. You can do this!’” By providing excellent service, Walls is able to help those callers get the resources they need.

Outside of work, Walls likes to go to concerts, attend women empowerment events, and watch natural hair tutorials. She will soon start making soap from scratch and hopes to begin a soap-making business. In the future, she hopes to become a Licensed Certified Social Worker-Clinical (LCSW-C) and have her own private counseling business.
