Security Officer Reid Brinkley was recommended for an Officer Spotlight by his security supervisors. He joined the department in 2010 and has been a security officer for nearly 12 years.

“There are a lot of ‘atta boys’ in this job,” Brinkley says of the positive recognition he receives for his hard work.

Brinkley says he enjoys the unknown of being a security officer. “It brings a different challenge every day.” Those challenges can range from elevator issues to ensuring building security. “I keep everyone in the loop until there is a resolution,” he says.

Brinkley recommends that students, faculty, and staff take advantage of the many wonderful resources available at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), including the UMB Police Department’s Safe Walk/Safe Ride service. "Education isn't always in the classroom," he says.

Outside of work, Brinkley enjoys playing video games and watching football. One fun fact about him: He’s an Eagle Scout!
