Doneisha Jenkins

Doneisha JenkinsAfter working as a security officer with the University of Maryland, Baltimore Police Department (UMBPD) for seven years, Doneisha Jenkins was recently promoted to be the department's newest Police Communication Operator (PCO). "It's rewarding knowing that I'm providing critical services to the community I lived and grew up in," she says.

Jenkins is excited for this next step in her career and being able to play a more vital role in assisting with public safety at UMB. As a security officer, she says her biggest achievement was communicating with PCOs and providing them with suspect descriptions and information which helped lead to their capture. Now, she will be the one taking those calls.

"No two days are alike as a PCO," says Jenkins. "Our environment is ever changing." One day, she hopes to train other PCOs, become a PCO lead, and eventually a PCO supervisor.

PCOs are available 24/7 in the UMBPD Police Communication Center. No matter the time, someone will always answer your call (410-706-6882) - it may even be Jenkins!

"Stay alert, stay active, and stay engaged in the campus community," says Jenkins. "And report any suspicious activity on campus."

Outside of work, Jenkins likes to be social, volunteer in the community, and spend time with her family. She also likes to cook (and eat!).
