PFC Berdell Presberry walks in the room and is laughing right away. He strikes a few silly poses before smiling for his Spotlight photo. The officer is new to the University of Maryland, Baltimore Police Department (UMBPD), but he’s not new to policing. Presberry spent 20 years with the Baltimore Police Department before joining UMBPD. 

“I want to make a difference,” Presberry says. “Every day, we face the unknown. I want to make sure we all go home safe at the end of the day.”

Presberry is excited to join the University. He fits in right away with his friendly and funny personality. “I just want our community to know we’re here for them,” he says. “We’re here to welcome them and to support them.”

In the future, Presberry wants to be an asset to the department. He likes to fish, hike, visit family, and create art. “I’m an easygoing person and a comedian,” he says.
