As one of the University of Maryland, Baltimore Police Department's (UMBPD) newest security officers, Crystal Schools is excited to learn everything — from the big picture to the details and procedures. Schools has served as a security officer for a private company since she was 21 years old. She wants to become a leader in security.

"I would say my best achievement on the job would be doing my job at an excellent level and achieving greatness," says Schools, who loves to learn and experience new things every day.

Learning so much at a new job can sometimes be overwhelming, but Schools is up to the task. She takes time to understand all the information and put it together until she gets a larger sense of the workload. 

For those in the UMB community, Schools recommends you take your time, pace yourself, learn new situations, and be open to receiving new information.

Outside of work, Schools likes to spend time with family, watch movies, and catch up on TV. She says she's very loyal, outgoing, and a good friend to anyone who needs a shoulder to lean on.
