2024 MLK Diversity Recognition Award Winners

UMB’s Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Diversity Recognition Awards are presented for individual and/or group achievements in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion. 

The Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion has named the 2024 winners, who will be honored at UMB’s Black History Month celebration on Feb. 6 featuring keynote speaker Fatima Goss Graves, JD, President and CEO, National Women’s Law Center President, National Women’s Law Center Action Fund Co-Founder, TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund.

The MLK Award winners serve as models of the ideals epitomized by the life and work of Dr. King.

Outstanding UMB Faculty Award

Danya Qato, PhD, PharmD, MPH, of the School of Pharmacy will receive the Diversity Recognition Award for Outstanding Faculty Member as part of the University’s Black History Month celebration Feb. 6.

The Student National Dental Association chapter at the School of Dentistry will receive the Diversity Recognition Award for Outstanding Student Group as part of the University’s Black History Month celebration Feb. 6.

Community Champion of Equity and Justice Awards

UMB’s Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Community Champion of Equity and Justice Awards are presented to individuals and/or organizations advancing equity and justice in the city of Baltimore. 

The Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and the Office of Community Engagement have named the inaugural winners of these awards, and they will be honored at UMB’s 2024 Black History Month celebration on Feb. 6 featuring keynote speaker Fatima Goss Graves, JD, president and CEO, National Women’s Law Center; president, National Women’s Law Center Action Fund; and co-founder, TIME’S UP Legal Defense Fund.

The Community Champions serve as models of the ideals epitomized by the life and work of Dr. King.
