Shannon O'Connor

Biography:  Shannon is a first year student at the University of Maryland at Baltimore and Baltimore County, in the policy track of the intercampus gerontology PhD program.  Originally from Annapolis, Shannon attended college at North Carolina State University, where she earned degrees in applied psychology and sociology.  She also earned her MA in applied sociology with concentrations in social policy and health economics from North Carolina Central University.  During her graduate career, Shannon served as a graduate assistant for undergraduate research methods classes, and as an editorial assistant for Sociation Today, the official journal of the North Carolina Sociological Association.  Shannon currently works as a graduate research assistant in the Department of Epidemiology & Preventive Medicine in the School of Medicine.  Her research interests include health policy and minority health issues, specifically among immigrant populations.
