Pan-Africanism unifies native Africans and those of the African Diaspora.  The Pan-African celebration is designed to be educational, cultural, and social.  The event includes foods representing several different countries around the world and traditional music.  Since Pan-Africanism includes people living in the United States, Canada, Caribbean, Central America, South America, Europe, and Asia, one goal of the event will be to teach the history of Pan-Africa and some of the cultural and social customs.  This is an event during which people of all races and backgrounds can come celebrate the African heritage.  The Pan-African celebration hopes to highlight the diversity and beauty of African cultures by bringing a tiny sliver of “Africa” to the University’s students in a night of food, dancing, and fun.
