United Students of African Descent
University of Maryland Baltimore

"Embracing graduate and professional students of color "

The organization's goals are to:

  • Address the concerns and cultural development of students of African descent
  • Educate others about the contributions of Africans and African-Americans in the enhancement of society and the world at large
  • Raise the campus community's level of awareness about diversity issues by creating venues for people to interact and discuss such issues in an open and safe environment

USAD interacts directly with both the local Baltimore community and national organizations, and with people and institutions involved in addressing the concerns of students of African descent. The organization achieves its mission by sponsoring and implementing informative, educational, interactive, cultural, and entertaining programs.
