RWS Employment Overview

The RWS is one of the largest employer of students at UMB. The RWS employs between 50 - 100 students and contingent I employees each year.  Federal Work-Study positions are available and have first priority for hiring and scheduling.  We are currently hiring for the Spring 2009 session.  The RWS accepts applications throughout the year and we are always RECRUITING MOTIVATED STUDENTS and EXPERIENCED RECREATION & FITNESS personnel to work in a variety of positions.

Student Employment

To be eligible for employment, you must be currently registered as a UMB student. We offer a number of Work-Study positions. Please check the Financial Aid site for these listings. Screening of candidates will lead to an interview and those hired will then complete an orientation and training session specific to the area hired to work.  Pay rates and schedules depend on the position hired to work.  Available positions are on the table in the left-hand column.

Providing student employment is one component of the RWS's mission for student development at UMB.  All part-time jobs are student based.  From time to time, the RWS is unable to fill all positions with student employees.  When this occurs, the RWS does accept applications for part-time employment of Contingent I (IF & WHEN) employees as defined by the University System of Maryland (USM)  policies.  Contingent I hiring only occurs when (1) no students are found to fill existing positions, (2) funds are available, or (3) special certifications are necessary that a student may not possess.  Contingent I hires will be bumped when a student employee has been found that can fill that position or funds are no longer available.
