Julia Wightman, Director - URecFit

Julia is originally from Edinburg, Virginia and joined UM and URecFit in September 1991.  Julia received her B.S. from Radford University in Health and Physical Education and Masters from the University of Virginia in Exercise Physiology.  Growing up surrounded by the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, Julia’s love of recreation and fitness started early in life.  In her free time Julia loves spending time with her two dogs and also enjoys kayaking, hiking, camping, fishing and photography.

Meghan is originally from New York and moved to Maryland in 2008. She obtained her BS from SUNY Brockport and Masters of Social Work here at the University of Maryland. Meghan started working for URecFit in 2009 and loves the fun and challenging experience.

Jimmy Heiner, Assistant Director - Aquatics & Safety Education

Jimmy Heiner was born and raised in York, Pennsylvania and earned his B.S. in Sport Management at York College of Pennsylvania and a Masters degree at Georgia State University.  Jimmy has been around a pool as a swimmer, lifeguard or aquatic professional for nearly 25 years.  He is excited for the opportunity to provide the University of Maryland community with a safe and inviting place to swim and exercise.  In his free time Jimmy loves to spend time with his wife Amanda and their two dogs Nittany and Mogli.  

Anna Roskowinski, Assistant Director

Anna Roskowinski, Assistant Director - Sports Programs

Anna manages the overall operation of the Pratt Gymnasium, coordinates facility rentals, and executes the intramural and club sport programs.  She graduated from Penn State University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Kinesiology and earned her Master’s Degree in Health and Sport Studies from The University of Iowa. When she’s not cheering for the Nittany Lions, Anna enjoys training for endurance running events, and traveling.

Eric Barron, Assistant Director - Fitness

Eric is originally from Central NY and has lived in Maryland for over 6 years. He earned both his Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science and Master’s Degree in Applied Health Physiology from Salisbury University. Prior to joining University of Maryland, The Founding Campus Eric was the Director of Fitness Assessments for the US Air Force at Ft. Meade, MD. Eric is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the NSCA.  In his free time he enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with his wife & chocolate lab.

Jole Gibson, Coordinator - BioPark Fitness Center

Jole’ Gibson has been with the University of Maryland for over 10 years and is currently oversees day to day operations at the BioPark.  An alumnus of Norfolk State University, Jole’ is a certified Personal Trainer and certified RAD (Rape Aggression Defense) Instructor.  Jole’ enjoys volunteering, working out, being surrounded with family and friends.  Her favorite quote is “Be Honest with Thy Self.”

William "Archie" Griffin, Program Management Specialist - Safety Education

William “Archie” Griffin joined URecFit in 2009 as Program Management Specialist.  Archie attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore and has retired with 25 years of service as a Corporal in 2009 as a Police Officer for the University of Maryland.  A RAD Instructor at URecFit (Rape Aggression Defense), Archie is a newly appointed Executive Board Member for RAD Systems.  Archie’s favorite quote is by Anthony Jay, “The only real training for leadership is leadership.”

Sara Griggs, Coordinator - Sports Programs

Sara received her B.A. degree in Kinesiology from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, and is currently pursuing her Masters of Recreation Management at Frostburg University. Sara is responsible for managing the Pratt operational staff, intramural sport supervisors and executing the intramural sport programs. Before coming to URecFit Sara was a Coordinator of Aquatics and Intramural Sports at Lafayette College.  She enjoys traveling, backpacking, camping and hiking with her Great Dane.

Shannon Holt, Facility Supervisor

Shannon Holt, Facility Supervisor

Shannon Holt is a part-time Facility Supervisor at URecFit and thrilled to be a part of the operations team.  She finds fitness and recreation an engaging (and fun!) sideline to her full time career, not to mention a great opportunity to get fit.  An avid (if not overly skilled) snowboarder, she nevertheless has fervent hopes of reaching the double black diamond slope one day.  Patrons will often see Shannon making the rounds in the evenings and on weekends, making every effort to remember to use the stairs instead of the elevator.

Israel is from Trinidad & Tobago and has always been involved and influenced by sports. He got his Bachelor of Science in Sports Management at Howard University. He likes working at URecFit and his favorite athlete is Muhammad Ali.

Scott Stanfill, Facility Supervisor

Scott Stanfill, Facility Supervisor

Scott Stanfill graduated from the University of Maryland in 2010 with a B.S. in Kinesiology.  In 2011, he graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a M.S. in Sports Management.  At IUP, Scott served as a Graduate Assistant for the Health and Physical Education Department where he coordinated the inaugural IUP Sports Business Conference in addition to teaching CPR classes and overseeing the James G. Mills Fitness Center.  Scott also referees high school and youth soccer.  His favorite teams include the Terps, Orioles, Ravens, Wizards, and USMNT.  Scott’s favorite quote is by Yoda, “Do or do not, there is no try.”

Kaci Dewitt-Rickards

Kaci is originally from Forest, Virginia.  She graduated in 2011 from the University of Miami with a B.S. in Education and majored in Exercise Physiology with a minor in Sports Medicine & Psychology.  Currently Kaci is a student in the Doctor of Physical Therapy program at UMB.  She joined the URecFit team as a Fitness Assistant in August 2011.  In her spare time she enjoys hiking, biking, rock climbing, road tripping, and exploring places off the beaten path.  Kaci’s favorite part of working at URecFit is getting to help give patrons and fellow staff members a more enjoyable experience.

Sean Kelly

Sean Kelly, Facility Supervisor

Sean Kelly graduated from University of Maryland in 2011 with a B.S. in Biology and is now attending the University Of Maryland School Of Pharmacy.  In addition to working for URecFit, Sean is also a pharmacy technician at the Johns Hopkins Hospital   Originally from New Jersey, he enjoys playing most sports especially soccer and beach volleyball.  Sean likes staying active and will often be found working out when he is not on shift.  Feel free to say “Hello!” when you see him!

Ifasina "Fash" McKnight, Fitness Specialist

Fash began working at URecFit with the opening of the new SMC Campus Center facility in August of 2009. She is pursuing a career in Sports and Recreation Management, is an avid lover of both the sports and fashion industries, and would like to one day to find a way to merge the two.  In addition, Fash recently was certified to be a Mad Dogg Spin Instructor.  A football fanatic, Fash loves to spend her Sundays on the couch cheering on her Cowboys!

Cody Sizemore, Intramural Sports Specialist

Cody graduated from Towson University in 2011 with a degree in Sport Management. While attending Towson, Cody was involved in the Recreation Department as an Intramural Sports Supervisor and worked with the Baltimore Orioles in the Career Introductory Program. In addition, before coming to URecFit he worked with Towson Athletics in the Event and Facilities Management Department. In his free time he enjoys playing sports especially basketball and softball. His favorite teams include the Orioles, Ravens, and Towson Tigers.
