Nominations are now being accepted for Senators to serve on the UMB Staff Senate for the 2014-2016 term. The UMB Staff Senate serves as an advisory body to President Jay A. Perman, M.D., and senior leadership. You will have a chance to work closely in committees with other staff senate leaders on campus and to improve working conditions for staff all over campus. The UMB Staff Senate has been instrumental in lobbying for initiatives ranging from campus transportation, parking, childcare, campus life, staff recognition, and COLA/merit increases for staff, as well as organizing community outreach initiatives (cell phones for soldiers, school supply drives, etc).
Senators serve a 2-year term and represent over 2,100 Exempt, Non-Exempt/Excluded and Contractual II employees here at UMB. We are now accepting nominations for 7 Exempt and 3 Non-Exempt/Excluded Senator positions. In addition, there will be 4 alternate Senator positions available.
