Goals as a Senator: "A few years ago, we found that people were still asking, "What is the UMB staff senate? What exactly do you guys do?" With so many things we HAVE done and continue to effect on this campus for staff, my goal is to increase awareness of who we are, facilitate our communications to and from our constituents. In the last 3 years, we have started to meet & greet our staff at campus fairs, set up and maintained social media channels (twitter & facebook), contributed a monthly column in the campus newsletter, created an anonymous feedback form, provided a presentation to HR to educate new employees about the staff senate, worked with Communications & Public Affairs to produce informational materials, and deployed a campus-wide survey to capture the voices of our constituents. The Communications Committee looked through EVERY comment and summarized issues for senior leadership to review. We published results as well as responses from senior leadership. One of my hopes this year is to invite and provide opportunities for those who have expressed a desire to participate, by forming a Staff Senate Council. I hope that the Communications Committee can continue to spread awareness of our mission and engage staff to be an active part of making this campus a best place to work!"
