The UMB Police Force is currently undergoing CALEA accreditation to ensure faculty, staff, students, and visitors to campus receive the best services possible.
The UMB Police Force offers two kinds of police escorts.
Police Walking Escort: Covers the boundaries of the campus. Available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Call 6-6882 on a campus telephone or 410-706-6882.
Police Riding Escort: Extends three blocks beyond the campus boundaries to Schroeder Street on the west, Franklin Street on the north, Park Avenue on the east, and Washington Boulevard on the south.
Police van escort hours have been extended to 3 p.m. through 1 a.m., with two seven-passenger vans operating during peak hours, between 5 p.m. and 1 a.m. Call 6-6882 on a campus telephone or 410-706-6882.
Rape Aggression Defense
R.A.D. Stands for Rape Aggression Defense and is a women's self-defense class. This program is a hands-on course designed to emphasize confidence and self-discipline while developing and enhancing options of self-defense. This course will teach basic self-defense techniques and emphasize common-sense approaches to safety on campus. Classes are taught by certified instructors from URecFit and University Police.
