Gala – Oct. 13, 2018

Staff Luncheon – Oct. 15, 2018
The Staff Luncheon at Westminster Hall is always a Founders Week highlight. More than 6,000 University employees of all levels are invited. Registration opens in the early fall.
Researcher of the Year Lecture & Reception – Oct. 16, 2018

Student Cookout – Oct. 18, 2018
A popular event as nearly 6,500 students are invited from our six professional schools and Graduate School. The president, deans, and vice presidents greet students as they enjoy festivities and good food in the courtyard of the School of Nursing. Registration opens in the early fall.
UMB Holiday Craft Fair – Nov. 30, 2018
The UMB Handmade and Homemade Holiday Craft Fair, an annual event, is the perfect venue for University staff, faculty, and students to show off their crafting, cooking, or baking skills or shop for unique gifts amid a festive holiday atmosphere. More than 60 vendors took part in last year’s fair so mark your calendar now for this festive event.
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Black History Month Commemoration – Feb. 7, 2019
Each year, UMB commemorates Black History Month with a keynote speaker chosen to exemplify diversity. In addition, UMB gives Diversity Recognition Awards for individual and/or group achievements in the areas of diversity and inclusiveness. Interprofessional Education Day – April 3, 2019
As health care evolves in the United States there is a growing understanding that health care professionals need to be able to work effectively in teams to optimize the outcomes of the care they provide to individuals, families, and communities.
IPE Day is focused on students from all seven schools who combine their talents to solve real-world problems supervised by faculty. This is a special initiative of President Perman. For more information, please visit the IPE website.
Employee Recognition Luncheon – April 4, 2019
Each year President Jay Perman, MD, recognizes employees of distinction by years of service, outstanding efforts, and special contributions to the University community. This event is by invitation only.
State of the University Address – May 8, 2019
Each year, President Perman delivers the State of the University Address highlighting the successes of the previous year. This event is open to the entire University community and attended by a mix of faculty, staff, and students, in addition to key community, system, and political leaders. Commencement – May 16, 2019
Commencement marks the most important day of the year and this year will take place on Thursday, with the Universitywide event at Royal Farms Arena. Graduates leave the arena with diplomas in hand. Students, families, and friends of the UMB community celebrate with a wide array of formal and informal activities and ceremonies. Individual school convocations are held separately that day or the day after at venues close to campus.

The UMB Core Values Speaker Series promotes the values of accountability, civility, collaboration, diversity, excellence, knowledge, and leadership. National and international leaders come to UMB to talk about their expertise and experiences to a broad University/communitywide audience.

The President’s Panel on Politics and Policy
The President's Panel on Politics and Policy is a speaker series examining issues important to the UMB community that are likely to be affected by the current presidential administration and Congress.
With so much at stake in terms of health and higher education policy, federal budget priorities, and issues of civil rights and social justice, President Perman encourages the UMB community to take part in these timely conversations.
