With Thanksgiving week upon us, I wish you restorative time with family and friends and abundant reminders of all you have to be grateful for.
As we look ahead to the close of the semester and the calendar year, we face changes — a new chancellor for our university system and a new governor for our state — as well as challenges, among them significant shortfalls in the state budget this fiscal year and next. These circumstances aren’t unprecedented, but they do require planning. As we receive information to guide that planning, we’ll share it with the UMB community.
I know how strong this University is. I’ve seen countless times your ability to manage effectively through change, to see opportunities in the challenges we confront, and to remain focused on our core commitment: excellence in education, research, patient care, and service to the community.
It’s one of the things for which I’m most thankful.
I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving.
