Campus Crime Alerts

In compliance with the provisions of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998, the University Police are giving notice of a violent  crime reported to have occurred on campus in the 100 Block on Penn Street near the University of Maryland's Allied Health and HSF II buildings.
Offense: Strong Arm Robbery

At approximately, 7:45 PM on Sunday, March 25th, 2012 a School of Medicine Student was walking in the 100 Block of Penn Street when a black male approximately 5'-7" tall, medium build, wearing a dark skull cap, hooded sweatshirt and dark pants snatched her iPhone from her hand and ran towards Lemmon Street away from campus.
The University of Maryland Police Force is continuing to investigate this incident.

 Know your surrounds when traveling the campus
 Avoid Cell Phone use while walking
 Walk with a buddy or a group.
 Use the Police escort service (either walking escorts or ride in the police van)

Little information is known about the crime at this time. It does not appear to involve anyone affiliated with the University of Maryland
Offense: Homicide - 800 Block West Fayette Street (Baltimore City).

At approximately 11:35 PM on Saturday March 24, 2012, University of Maryland police officers responded to the 800 Block of West Fayette Street to investigate city police presence when they learned that an African-American male had been shot. The victim was transported to UMMC for treatment. We learned that the victim expired earlier this morning.
There is no information about the suspect. The description, method and route of escape are unknown. The Baltimore Police Department is investigating this crime. We will provide an update when more information is available.

Robbery
Campus Related
Location: West Baltimore and Fremont Street

On March 19, 2012 at approximately 9:30 AM, a robbery occurred at the corner of Baltimore & Fremont Street.  According to victims she was standing at the bus stop when the suspect approached her and snatched her cell phone out of her hand. The victim stated that the suspect then ran south on Fremont Street off campus.  No one was injured during this incident. The University Police are actively investigating this crime.
SUSPECT INFORMATION:
Suspect:  Black male, approximately 20 years old, 5’8-5’10 thin build, and dark complexion –wearing gray hood sweat shirt-white t-shirt beige khaki pants no pockets- white sneakers

  • Don't place yourself in the position to become a victim. 
Report any suspicious activity to the Police immediately.
