Other Common Visa Types for UMB Students F-2... A dependent of an F-1 student. Can go to school full-time or part-time, as a degree seeking or non-degree seeking student. Can not work. J-2... A dependent of a J-1 student or scholar. Can go to school full-time or part-time, as a degree seeking or non-degree seeking student. Is permitted to work after obtaining INS permission. H-1... A temporary worker. Can go to school part-time only. Can be a degree seeking or non-degree seeking student. Can only work at the job for which the H visa was obtained. H-4 ... A dependent of an H-1 visa holder. Can go to school full-time or part-time, as a degree seeking or non-degree seeking student. Can not work. A-1 & 2 ... A diplomat or their immediate family. Can go to school full-time or part-time, as a degree seeking or non-degree seeking student. The principal A-1 holder may work for the foreign government entity only. Family members may work after obtaining INS approval. G-4... Officers or employees of International organizations and the members of their immediate family. Can go to school full-time or part-time, as a degree seeking or non-degree seeking student. Can work for the International organization only. If you are planning to attend UMB and have one of these (or another less common) visa types, contact the ISIC for more information. If you plan to change your visa type when you enroll at UMB to an F-1 or J-1 student visa, please make that clear on your application. |
