My experiences at both campuses have given me a broad perspective of campus life and a good understanding of the many complex issues facing our campus today.  Our campus can be a really great place for staff to work, to make significant contributions, and to build a career. I also think our campus offers many benefits and resources that we may not fully understand or utilize that can to help us reach our personal and professional goal,  I would welcome the opportunity to become more actively involved by serving the staff and the campus through the Staff Senate.  If elected, I would do my best to advocate for the staff issues and improve the lines of communication with the goal of making the campus a better place to work.

Goals as a Senator: "Having celebrated by 11th year on this campus, my goals continue to be available to serve the faculty and staff in the Department of Physiology. On top of that, I continue to serve the staff on the UMB campus that we represent under shared governance. I believe that the Staff Senate has made significant contributions over the years and it is my goal to see that we continue to be an avenue for staff to voice their issues, concerns and ideas. We, in turn, will insure that the correct person, office or entity on campus is made aware of issues that affect the staff on the UMB campus. The University of Maryland, Baltimore is an excellent institution to conduct research, patient care and teaching. Our exempt, non-represented nonexempt staff and the Contingent II employees on campus are the most important element of the work force, they make things run around here and they deserve the best representation a group like the Staff Senate can provide. This starts with improved communication across the campus to make the UMB staff aware of issues that effect their workplace and environment and it is my intention to continue to provide that type of representation as long as I am fortunate enough to serve as a Staff Senator."
