H VISAS - TEMPORARY WORKER’S VISA

H-1b temporary workers are approved for employment at a specific job location with specific job duties, salary, and title.  Changes from the initial H-1b approval MUST be reviewed by my office prior to any change of employment.

The H visa is a temporary worker’s visa for specialty occupations. The H visa is job and site specific; once approved, the employee is eligible to work at the job for which that visa was approved and ONLY that job. If necessary, the employee may have concurrent approval of more than one H visa status in order to work at two or more jobs. The H visa status may be obtained for up to three years and may be renewed for up to a second three year period, or a total maximum of six years. The process of obtaining H status involves interactions with two federal agencies and takes a minimum of three months to complete. Once the H status has been approved, the employee is eligible to work between the beginning and ending dates on the approval notice.
