| International Student Admissions International Students who will need to obtain a visa based on attendance at UMB must demonstrate English Proficiency and Financial Responsibility. English Proficiency is proven by an official TOEFL score of at least 550 paper-based, 213 computer-based, previous attendance at a U.S. institution, or proof that English is their native language. Financial Responsibility is proven by a variety of methods including personal/family funds, family sponsorship, government/international organization sponsorship, or a UMB Graduate Assistantship. Documentation stating the person or organization will sponsor the student with a specific financial support amount, or if utilizing personal/family funds a current bank statement, (within past 6 months), must be provided. Below are estimated costs for one year at UMB. Prior to processing visa paperwork, OIS requires evidence of the minimum financial support amount committed to your education. If you plan to bring family members to the United States, please read the information below regarding family support. Please remember all admission decisions are based on academics and made by the program. English Proficiency scores and Financial Support information is only gathered for visa purposes. Educational and Living Costs: Hospitalization Insurance is required for all UMB Students. You must prove that you have coverage equivalent to UMB's minimum requirements, or purchase the policy offered by UMB to all students. This cost is not included in the educational or living cost estimate. The expenses of a married student are considerably more than that of a single student. In addition to funds for his/her own expenses, the married student must show that he/she has an additional $5,000/per year to support his/her spouse and each dependent child accompanying them to the United States. The following information will be needed to prepare paperwork for your spouse or dependent child's visa: Name, Relationship, Date of Birth, City of Birth and Country of Citizenship.
