J-1 Scholar Orientation

Next: Friday, Sept. 6 at 10 a.m. in  Room 309 of the SMC Campus Center 

This program assists in acclimating to the university, Baltimore, and the United States. Topics covered would include applicable immigration regulations, office and university services, concepts of cross-cultural communication, housing information, and community resources.

International Scholar & Student Travel Workshop

Next: Wednesday, Nov. 13 at Noon in Room 351 of the SMC Campus Center

This workshop reviews the process for re-entry to the United States and the process for applying for renewal of the U.S. visa stamp. F-1 and J-1 travel issues will be covered.

Conversation, Communication and Culture (C3)

Next: Thursdays Beginning Sept. 19 at 5:15 p.m. on Level Three of the SMC Campus Center

A weekly group co-sponsored by the OIS and the Writing Center that explores facets of culture and language and how they impact intercultural interactions. This group meets weekly in the evenings during the academic year. Check out the conversation topics for Spring 2013!

Welcome all new international students to the University of Maryland Baltimore! Come and meet student leaders and hear presentations from various offices regarding immigration, Social Security Numbers, adjusting to life in the U.S., health insurance, banking, and how you can get involved.
