YouthWorks

Each year, UMB collaborates with the Mayor’s Office of Employment Development (MOED) in its efforts to provide Baltimore youth with five to six weeks of full-time summer employment.

Through our 25-year partnership with MOED, UMB’s program has been a model for others within Baltimore, with its unique mentoring component that pairs students with staff/faculty and UMB students on campus. Guided mentoring activities help to provide educational and career direction for its participants.

Overall, the program enhances the students’ future, as they are exposed to real work experience. UMB has benefited greatly from this program as many of the Baltimore youth have made successful careers here at the University.

For more information about UMB’s YouthWorks summer jobs program, please contact the Education and Equal Access Team at 410-706-2281. Information about the overall program can be found at the Mayor's Office of Employment Development.
