The National Museum of Dentistry, an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, celebrates the great heritage of dentistry, its present and its future. The museum's historical artifacts, interactive exhibitions and engaging programs expand public awareness of the importance of oral health in overall health. Visitors of all ages are fascinated by the permanent exhibition, "32 Terrific Teeth" and other temporary and traveling exhibitions.
The library has rotating exhibits highlighting selections from its historical and other collections. Recent displays have featured topics relevant to the administration of the library's environment and services. Also visit the Historical and Special Collections. The School of Nursing Museum, located on the second floor of the nursing school building, is one of the only museums of its type in the nation. The story of health care's unsung heroes is captured in hundreds of photographs, personal items, and in the written and spoken words of the nurses themselves, including the retired nurses who serve as volunteer docents.
Davidge Hall, formerly known as the College of Medicine of Maryland, opened in Baltimore in November 1812 and survives as the oldest building in the United States continuously used for medical education. |
