For Media

The News Bureau within the Office of External Affairs is your connection to the University and the news.

umb newsOur Team:
Our team of News Bureau officers is here to help journalists get the information they need about University of Maryland news, faculty, programs and research, and to help faculty share their work with the media.

Each school has a contact person (see right panel) in the Office of External Affairs to collaborate on its media relations.

UMB News:
Updated daily, news you can use about University programs, research, projects, and happenings around campus.

In the News:
A compilation of news featuring members of the UMB community.

Publications:

Speakers Bureau:
The community can tap the expertise of faculty members, students, and staff who speak on a variety of health, human service, and legal topics.

Style Guides:
Writing style matters. The University has style guides to help personnel compose written materials:

UMB Economic Impact:
A unique mix of schools located on 32 acres, 54 buildings, and 4,583,000 gross square feet just blocks from the Inner Harbor and Camden Yards and a leader in Baltimore's west side renaissance, UMB is a major economic engine in the city, state, and region.

UMB History:
The first dental school in the world, the fifth-oldest medical school in the nation, and buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places are part of UMB's 195-year history.

Weather:
"Don't like the weather in Baltimore? Wait a minute," is an old but favorite phrase. Brisk winters, delightful springs, hot summers, and colorful falls are punctuated by Ravens and Orioles games and trips to Ocean City and Deep Creek Lake.
