Service-Learning Designation

The Service-Learning designation does not have to be received in order for you to offer a service-project, however, it indicates that your project adheres to service-learning best practices.  For a project to receive Service-Learning Designation, it must meet the following criteria:

• Provide structured opportunities for students to connect their service activities to course curricula
• Offer structured training prior to allowing students to interact with the community
• Provide academically relevant and well organized community based learning projects, developed in authentic partnership with community leadership, through which student directly serve as constituency
• Incorporate reflection as a major part of the Service-Learning experience
• Utilizes assessment and learning objectives
• Community Based learning is incorporated into the learning objectives
