Poverty Simulation
Poverty Simulation

The Poverty Simulation is designed to help participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a low-income family and survive from week to week.  This interactive workshop allows participants to assume the roles of a family member facing poverty.  Participants will have the opportunity to experience some of the daily challenges a family in poverty may go through over a simulated experience of one month. Families will address problems such as lack of transportation to having only enough money to pay for food or rent. At the close of the simulation there will be a debriefing period where participants and volunteers will have the opportunity to discuss and reflect on their experience Resources will be shared to help participates gain further knowledge of the concepts presented during the simulation.
