Service-learning is defined as the teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility and strengthen communities.*
PSLI will contain a service-learning component with a minimum service requirement of 40 hours in addition to the seminar requirements. PSLI participants will be responsible for finding their own service-learning projects. Service projects can be in conjunction with the Office of Interprofessional Service-Learning & Student Initiatives, coursework, UM Go Green or the Office of Community Relations.
