Crowds of students, staff, and faculty stopped by the campus center and the School of Nursing lawn to enjoy Fall Fest, the culmination of Welcome Month. Governor Martin O’Malley spoke about the importance of supporting the life sciences in a recent visit to the University of Maryland BioPark. O’Malley, an alumnus of the law school at UMB, joined University President Jay A. Perman and other leaders on a tour of several companies in the BioPark, which now has 30 tenants. Perman, MD, has been elected chair of the board of directors of the Downtown Partnership of Baltimore (DPOB) and has been named one of Maryland’s Most Admired CEOs for 2013 by the Daily Record.
