Campus Network - Wireless Network Troubleshooting

The IT Help Desk provides support for the Campus Wireless Network. 

Here are some basic troubleshooting steps if you cannot connect to the Campus Wireless Network.

Try rebooting your laptop
If you have been using a wireless connection in another building or area, you may need to refresh your connection. 

Check to see if your laptop finds any available wireless networks
If your laptop does not find any networks:

• Check to see if your wireless card and antenna are on.
• Check to see if you are in an area that has access to the Campus Wireless Network. 
   
  If you are not in an area that has access to the Campus Wireless Network, please contact the IT Support group for that building or school. 

If your laptop finds a Campus Wireless Network, but you cannot connect:

• Does the network you are trying to access require you to log in?  
  
  If so, is your myUMB ID and password active? 
   
• Is your wireless connection configured to obtain an IP address using DHCP instead of a static IP address?
  
  When connecting to the Campus Wireless Network, your connection should be configured to use DHCP.
