UMnet Account Information
Services: Your UMnet account is your gateway to many resources including: - A University of Maryland, Baltimore e-mail address and mailbox

Campus Network Usage Policies: In accepting your UMnet account, you agree to abide by the rules and guidelines that govern network usage at the University of Maryland, Baltimore. It is important that you read and understand the University of Maryland Baltimore Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy as well as the Usage Guidelines and Policies for UMnet Accounts. Activating your UMnet Account: Note:
In order to use the services provided by UMnet, such as Open Webmail, you must first change the temporary password given to you when you received your account information! 1. Read Changing Your Password/Password Security on UMnet , which is available on the web page UMnet Instructions Provided by ASC.
- It is your responsibility to make sure you select a secure password; the document provides guidelines for doing so.
Choose a password that meets the security guidelines.
2. Connect to UMnet using Open Webmail.
- If you already have Internet access, you can do this immediately.
- If you do not have Internet access, you must first obtain Internet access. UMB faculty and staff can now access new Information on Internet Service Providers including those who have offered special UMB discounts. Students can also access the information by logging into SURFS.
3. Log in using your TEMPORARY password. 4. Follow the instructions in your Account Registration Letter to change the temporary password to the one you chose in step 2 or see the document Changing Your Password/Password Security on UMnet, which is available on the web page UMnet Instructions Provided by ASC.
- Your account must be activated with your new password within 30 days of the date of your UMnet Account Registration Letter.
