Password Expiration and Renewal


UMnet passwords expire approximately every six months. Prior to expiration, you will receive a system generated e-mail message notifying you of password expiration with instructions on how to change the password. If you do not change your password within the specified time, your account will be temporarily locked. If your account is locked, follow the procedure for requesting a temporary password noted below.

You must be connected to the internet and in Open Webmail to change your password. Instructions can be found on the web page UMnet Instructions Provided by ASC, for both Macintosh and Windows computers.

If you do not remember your password, a temporary one can be requested by visiting the ASC Help Desk on the lower level of the Health Sciences and Human Services Library, Room LL06, weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and completing a Password Change Request form. Requests for a temporary password will be completed while you wait. You must bring your University ID when requesting a temporary password.
