myUMB ID and Password FAQ

If you are not an employee paid through the University or a registered student, you will need to complete the following steps in order to be added to the system as an affiliate.

Go to http://cf.umaryland.edu/onecard/affiliates and fill out the Affiliate Online Application
Click on the ‘Submit’ button
Print out the pre-filled form and get the appropriate UM Sponsor signatures
Mail, fax, or bring the Affiliate Application form to the IT Help Desk.

This is my first time signing on and I cannot sign on.

Go to the UM Account Management site https://directory.umaryland.edu.

Click on the "New User Setup Account" link and follow the instructions to create a UMID, select a verification question, select a security image, create a security phrase, and create your new myUMB password.

What do I do if I forget my password?

Go to the UM Account Management site https://directory.umaryland.edu.

Click on the link "Forgot Password" again and follow the instructions to reset your password.

If it has been more than 180 days since your last login, or the system does not recognize the answer to your verification question, please contact the IT Help Desk for further assistance.

How do I change my Password?

Go to the UM Account Management site https://directory.umaryland.edu and log in with your UMID and password.

Click on the "UM Password" link on the left-side of the screen and enter a new UMID password.

How often does my UM Password expire?

The UM Password expires every 180 days from the time the password is created.

You can find out when your UM Password is going to expire by logging into the UM Account Management site with your UMID and password.

I just changed my UM password and I still cannot login.

When the system accepts a new UM Password, you should receive a confirmation screen with the password’s expiration date. The expiration date should be about 180 days from when you created the new password.

If you did receive a confirmation screen, give the system a few minutes to synchronize your password.

If it has been more than 10 minutes since you created a new UM password and you still cannot log in, please contact the IT Help Desk.

What is the myUM PIN?

The UM PIN is not your UM Password. The UM PIN is used in place of the last 4 digits of a Social Security Number to verify a user’s identity if a user does not have a Social Security Number associated with their account, or does not wish to provide that information.

You can change your UM PIN from the myUM Account Management Site.

What is the UMID? How do I find the UMID for my account?

The UMID your username on your UM Account.

Here are instructions on how to find or change your myUMB ID.

Go to the myUM Account Management Site (https://directory.umaryland.edu).
Click on the “I cannot log into myUMB Account” link.
Enter you Last Name, Date of Birth, and either the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number or myUM PIN. Click on the Submit button.
Answer your verification question.
When you are logged into the UM Account Management Site, your UMID is displayed under the “Account Details” portion of the screen.

If you need to change your UMID, click on the “UMID” link on the left side of the screen.

When is a UM Account Deactivated?

If a user has multiple roles on campus, their myUM Account will stay active as long as there are active roles (Faculty, Staff, Student, Affiliate) associated with their account.

Faculty and Staff	A faculty or staff UM Directory Account is deactivated when their Employee Record is deactivated.
Students	In general, student UM Directory Accounts are deactivated 3 years after their last term with registered courses.
Affiliates	An affiliate’s UM Directory Account is deactivated when their Affiliate Record is deactivated.

How can I check to see if my UM ID and password are active or valid?

A:If you would like to check on the status of your UMID and password, go to the UM Account Management site (https://directory.umaryland.edu). If you can log into this website, your UMID and password are active and valid.

If you cannot log in, click on the link “I cannot login to UM Account” to set up your UM ID and password.

How can I check to see if my UM Directory Account is active?

Employees and Affiliates

Employees and Affiliates can use the Online Campus Directory to check on the status of your UM Directory Account.
(Click here to open the directory in a different window).

Search for your name in the Campus Directory. Remember to search by the name that would be listed on your Employee or Affiliate Record.

Search Results	Status of UM Directory Record
Record is found with name in Normal Lettering (i.e. Test Account)	Your UM Directory record is complete and active. You should be able to create a UMID and password. You should also have access to UM Authenticated systems, which you have been authorized to use.
Record is found with name in All Capital Letters (i.e. TEST ACCOUNT)	Your UM Directory record is still in a TEMPORARY state. You should be able to create a UMID and password. However… You may not have access to all UM Authenticated systems such as Blackboard or myUMB Mail. Contact the IT Help Desk with questions on the status of your UM Directory account.
No Record is found	If you cannot find a record in the Campus Directory, you may not have a UM Directory account yet. Contact the IT Help Desk for further support.

Students

If students need to check on the status of their UM Directory Account, they should contact the IT Help Desk with their Student ID number.
