| Q: | How do I get a UM account? | ||||||||
| A: | Accounts for employees paid through the University and registered students are created automatically. If you are not an employee paid through the University or a registered student, you will need to complete the following steps in order to be added to the system as an affiliate.

| Q: | This is my first time signing on and I cannot sign on. | ||||||||
Go to the UM Account Management site https://directory.umaryland.edu. Click on the "New User Setup Account" link and follow the instructions to create a UMID, select a verification question, select a security image, create a security phrase, and create your new myUMB password. | Q: | What do I do if I forget my password? | ||||||||
| A: | Go to the UM Account Management site https://directory.umaryland.edu. Click on the link "Forgot Password" again and follow the instructions to reset your password. If it has been more than 180 days since your last login, or the system does not recognize the answer to your verification question, please contact the IT Help Desk for further assistance. | ||||||||
| Q: | How do I change my Password? | ||||||||
| A: | Go to the UM Account Management site https://directory.umaryland.edu and log in with your UMID and password. Click on the "UM Password" link on the left-side of the screen and enter a new UMID password. | ||||||||
| Q: | How often does my UM Password expire? | ||||||||
| A: | The UM Password expires every 180 days from the time the password is created. You can find out when your UM Password is going to expire by logging into the UM Account Management site with your UMID and password. | ||||||||
| Q: | I just changed my UM password and I still cannot login. | ||||||||
| A: | When the system accepts a new UM Password, you should receive a confirmation screen with the password’s expiration date. The expiration date should be about 180 days from when you created the new password. If you did receive a confirmation screen, give the system a few minutes to synchronize your password. If it has been more than 10 minutes since you created a new UM password and you still cannot log in, please contact the IT Help Desk. | ||||||||
| Q: | What is the myUM PIN? | ||||||||
| A: | The UM PIN is not your UM Password. The UM PIN is used in place of the last 4 digits of a Social Security Number to verify a user’s identity if a user does not have a Social Security Number associated with their account, or does not wish to provide that information. You can change your UM PIN from the myUM Account Management Site. | ||||||||
| Q: | What is the UMID? How do I find the UMID for my account? | ||||||||
| A: | The UMID your username on your UM Account. Here are instructions on how to find or change your myUMB ID.

| Q: | When is a UM Account Deactivated? | ||||||||
| A: | If a user has multiple roles on campus, their myUM Account will stay active as long as there are active roles (Faculty, Staff, Student, Affiliate) associated with their account.

| Q: | How can I check to see if my UM ID and password are active or valid? | ||||||||
| A: | A:If you would like to check on the status of your UMID and password, go to the UM Account Management site (https://directory.umaryland.edu). If you can log into this website, your UMID and password are active and valid. If you cannot log in, click on the link “I cannot login to UM Account” to set up your UM ID and password. | ||||||||
| Q: | How can I check to see if my UM Directory Account is active? | ||||||||
| A: | Employees and Affiliates Employees and Affiliates can use the Online Campus Directory to check on the status of your UM Directory Account. Search for your name in the Campus Directory. Remember to search by the name that would be listed on your Employee or Affiliate Record.
Students If students need to check on the status of their UM Directory Account, they should contact the IT Help Desk with their Student ID number. |
