Q:How do I get a UM account?
A:

Accounts for employees paid through the University and registered students are created automatically.

If you are not an employee paid through the University or a registered student, you will need to have a current Sponsor add you to The Community System.   For a list of our current Sponsors, go to http://www.umaryland.edu/helpdesk/systems/community_system/sponsors.html

Q:I just changed my password and I still cannot login.
A:

When the system accepts a new password, you should receive a confirmation screen with the password’s expiration date.  The expiration date should be 180 days from when you created the new password.

If you did receive a confirmation screen, give the system a few minutes to synchronize your password.

If it has been more than 10 minutes since you created a new password and you still cannot log in, please contact the IT Help Desk.

Q:What is the UM PIN?
A:

The UM PIN is not your Password. The UMB PIN is used in place of the last 4 digits of a Social Security Number to verify a user’s identity if a user does not have a Social Security Number associated with their account, or does not wish to provide that information.

You can change your UMB PIN from the UMB Account Management Site.
