Student Health at UMaryland Immediate Care

Student Health is dedicated to providing you with the highest quality care in a friendly and expedient manner. The office sees itself as your “doctor away from home.” The Student Health Center operates from UMaryland Immediate Care. The staff maintains a policy of strict confidentiality and will not release information without the student’s written permission.

The Student Health Center is supported by student health fees, which are included in tuition.  Please bring your student ID.

    7 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday - Friday 
    Evening care is available by appointment on Monday and Thursday 5-7 p.m. at Family and Community Medicine

Students who may feel uncomfortable seeing a provider who may later serve as their instructor may contact the director of Student Health, James Baronas, MD at (410) 328-1362 to discuss available options.


Routine student health care and immunization administration is provided by the University of Maryland Family & Community Medicine Associates, P.A. physicians and mid-level providers at the UMaryland Immediate Care office located at 408 W. Lombard St. upper level. GYN exams and physicals are available by appointment only. Please call 410-328-1362 (1DOC) for information.

  • The following services are provided free of charge to University of Maryland, Baltimore students (except evening Law students)
    • Annual check-ups (by appointment only)
    • Routine gynecological examinations, including Pap smears (by appointment only)
    • Birth control pills are available by prescription
    • Acute & chronic visits
    • Neurologic testing
    • Family planning
    • Treatment of minor injuries
    • Allergy shot administration
    • Blood pressure screening
  • Additional services for which fees that will be charged to your insurance and that you may have a co-payment amounts
    Diagnostic and laboratory testing, including pap smears

You may still access the other University of Maryland Family Medicine Associates P.A. office located right around the corner at 29 S. Paca St if you require continuity, chronic care or obstetrical care. This office is open late on Mondays and Thursdays. Family members receive care as well at either practice, but may only access Immediate Care for acute health issues.

A doctor can be reached after hours and on weekends at 410-328-8792 no matter which practice you have received care from. Do not go directly to the emergency room unless the situation is life threatening. A call to Student Health can save you money, time, and frustration.

Walk in Shot Times

TB skin tests are not placed on Thursdays
No appointment necessary. Students are served on a first come/first served basis.  

Student Waivers

Students who are covered by another health insurance and desire to waive the school's insurance plan must submit a waiver and proof of comparable insurance benefits and limits to the Billing Office at 29 S. Paca Street, Lower level.
