Student Health Overview
All registered students are entitled to Counseling Center services and all registered students (except those in the evening law program) are entitled to Student Health services, often at no charge. All full-time students are automatically enrolled in the CareFirst plan, but those already covered by an equivalent plan may elect to waive the plan. Part-time students may also purchase CareFirst coverage. Each year, about half the students on campus enroll in the plan. To manage your health care successfully while you are enrolled at the University, you need to understand how each component of your health care package works. In many cases, you will have several choices as to how to use a particular service. Therefore, you will need to be able to choose wisely among them. This site aims to help you obtain health care while you are a student on this campus. If you are participating in CareFirst components of the campus health system, this site can help you learn how the coverage you have purchased can work together with Student Health and the Counseling Center to provide you with all the elements of a comprehensive care plan. If you have waived CareFirst insurance, you should be certain to know how to use your own health insurance plan in effective concert with the services of Student Health and the Counseling Center. |
