Liberal Leave For The 2012 Grand Prix of Baltimore
President Perman has declared that liberal leave will be in effect for Thursday, Aug. 30, and Friday, Aug. 31, 2012. Liberal leave means that, with the exception of employees designated as “essential employees” and those faculty and staff needed for classes or clinics, all employees who work at the downtown campus may elect to come to work, or to take accrued annual, personal, holiday, compensatory leave, or leave without pay. Staff designated as “essential” should check with their supervisors to determine their work schedule during this time. University employees not based in Baltimore, such as those at the Universities at Shady Grove, are not covered by this liberal leave policy decision. While prior supervisory approval to take leave is not required for "liberal leave," supervisors should establish reasonable procedures for employees to notify their departments if they will take advantage of liberal leave. Where appropriate, supervisors should give consideration to granting their approval for employees to Telework on either or both of these two days.
