Summer Financial Aid Deadline to apply for Summer Financial Aid - April 18, 2008 Summer financial aid can include federal work study (all students), alternative loans (undergraduate students), and/or Federal Grad Plus loans (gradate students). No institutional funds will be awarded. Students will receive notification of awards via their UMB campus e-mail address.
There are 4 summer aid request forms available to University of Maryland students. Please read the following information and submit the appropriate request form. (Pharmacy students on rotation are not required to complete summer request forms, but should contact their counselor at lmcke002@umaryland.edu to request summer aid.)
Students do not have to be registered for summer classes to qualify; however, Fall 2008 enrollment is required. Funding is based on the student's need and availability of funds. Opportunities for employment are available with both on campus and off campus employers. To qualify the employer must be an approved Federal Work Study site. Students are eligible to work up to 40 hours per week. Pay rate is dependent upon job placement. Students who accept work study during the summer and are not enrolled in classes will be required to contribute 40% of earnings as a resource for the upcoming academic year. The 40% contribution will automatically be calculated in the financial aid award packages for 2008-2009. Requirements
Students studying at another institution during the summer and who have permission from their school/program to transfer those credits to UMB may apply for financial aid to assist in paying the cost of tuition and living expenses. Students are not permitted to receive aid from 2 schools for the same period. Therefore, all aid must be processed through UMB. Below are further guidelines regarding eligibility, availability of funds, and application requirements. Eligibility A student must: - Be registered for a minimum of six credits or 12 grad units

- Provide proof of admission into program at visiting college

- STUDENTS MUST PROVIDE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS AND SCHEDULE APPOINTMENT WITH COUNSELOR TO APPROVE
Availability Only Grad Plus or private/alternative loans are available. Loan funds will be received by the visiting school to pay tuition and mandatory fees. All refund checks will be made co-payable to the student and the visiting school and can be picked up at the visiting school.
Law, Social Work, Nursing, Pharmacy and/or Graduate School students, who are enrolled in summer classes on campus, may submit this form to apply for financial aid to assist in paying the cost of tuition and living expenses.
