Public Service Loan Forgiveness
On January 31, 2012, a discussion on the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program was held here at UMB. During the discussion, U.S. Department of Education Under Secretary Martha Kanter and Congressman John Sarbanes introduced an updated Public Service Loan Forgiveness Fact Sheet along with a new Employment Certification Package to help borrowers track their progress toward PSLF. The following link will take you to the updated main Public Service Loan Forgiveness page (containing both new documents) on the U.S. Department of Education’s website.
As updates come to our office from the U.S. Department of Education regarding Public Service Loan Forgiveness, we will place them on our website. However, the U.S. Department of Education and its website remain the best resources for detailed, up-to-date information regarding the PSLF Program.
If you have questions about repayment plans for your federal student loans, you may contact your financial aid counselor to schedule an appointment.
Rep. John Sarbanes organized this forum on student loan forgiveness for public service in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Education and the University of Maryland founding campus in Baltimore, MD
