Research
Research is one of the cornerstones of the University's mission. All seven schools conduct research that helps shape patient care and policy on a national, state, and local level. From medical imaging and drug purity to environmental law and schizophrenia, UMB faculty members are respected leaders in their research communities.

School Rankings
- The Dental School (www.dental.umaryland.edu), ranks 7th nationally in NIH research funding. There is no national organization that ranks dental schools, but in the examination given by the National Board of Dental Examiners in July of 1999, UMB Dental school graduates had the sixth-highest pass rate in the nation.
- The School of Law (www.law.umaryland.edu), is ranked 36st nationally by U.S. News & World Report (2007), and three of its specialty programs (health law, environmental law, and clinical training) are in the top ten.
- The School of Medicine (medschool.umaryland.edu), ranks 12th in NIH funding (Publics) FY 2005.
- The School of Nursing (http://nursing.umaryland.edu), is ranked in the top 10 by U.S. News (2007), and three of its specialty areas are ranked in the top 10: Adult Nurse Practitioner, 6th; Nursing Service Administration, 6th; Family Nurse Practitioner, 5th.
- The School of Pharmacy (www.pharmacy.umaryland.edu), ranks 8th among Doctor of Pharmacy programs in the 2005 U.S. News Rankings.
- The School of Social Work (www.ssw.umaryland.edu), is 19th in the 2004 U.S. News rankings. Social work faculty members rank 7th in journal article publication and productivity among the 61 doctorate-conferring social work programs in the United States.
