Radiation Safety

The University program for the control of radioactive materials and radiation-producing devices is consistent with regulations of the Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE), U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the recommendations of the International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP) and the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements (NCRP).

The Radiation Safety Division administers the University broad scope radioactive materials license, which regulates activities at UMB, UMMC, UMBC, IMET, and MPRC.
