Audit findings: Personal protective equipment is not used while conducting experiments

Adverse consequence(s): Chemicals spilled on exposed skin can cause burns, irritation, and can lead to ingestion of toxic substances.

Corrective action: Eye protection, protective gloves and a laboratory coat must be worn while conducting laboratory experiments. These are minimum requirements applicable to all laboratories. Perform a risk assessment to determine if additional measures are necessary.
