Fire Box 13-35
The 737 W. Lombard Building, (formerly a warehouse), is five storied plus a basement, of heavy timber construction, brick exterior walls, and a "built-up" roof. This structure houses Medical School offices.
A complete interior fire alarm system consisting of manual pull stations, audible/visual warning devices, sprinkler water flow alarms, and smoke detectors connected to the Pine Street Police station. Emergency lighting has been installed through-out the facility.
The building is totally protected with a wet pipe sprinkler system, with sprinkler heads on the fourth and fifth floors placed both above and below the suspended ceiling. Fire department 2 1\2 inch fire hose connections are located at each floor level in both stairways. Fire department suppression equipment access is present on three sides of the building. A fire department Siamese connection is located on the West (Martin Luther King Blvd) side of the building. Knox FDC caps have been installed on the fire department connection to prevent vandalism.
Portable fire extinguishers are located throughout the facility.
A Knox Box has been installed next to the fire alarm annunciator panel with keys for elevators, mechanical areas, electric areas and fire alarm panels to be used by the fire department as needed. A key for the Knox FDC caps is also located in the Knox Box.
