The Body Project
Mondays, October 23rd - November 13th (4 sessions)
5:45 - 7:00pm
Do you like what you see in the mirror? Female students with body image concerns are invited to participate in The Body Project, a program aimed at helping young women feel better about their bodies. In this program, participants will get to attend four 75-minute classes designed to teach body acceptance and improve body satisfaction by challenging cultural pressures to conform to the appearance ideal standard of female beauty. Participants must attend an individual orientation/pre-screening beforehand and will need to attend all 4 classes and complete brief practice exercises between sessions. If you are a female student with body image concerns and would like to participate, please contact Molly Harshberger, LCSW-C at email@example.com for more information. *Please note: This is not an eating disorders group.

5:00 - 6:00pm
Need a break from studying or want something new to read? Join the SCC for our new book club! “GRIT - The Power of Passion and Perseverance" by Angela Duckworth explores how the secret to achievement may not be tied to talent. Learn about Duckworth's new and landmark research on "grit" - a blend of both passion and perseverance, and how it can help you in your UMB journey. The book club is for students that would like to read more about this concept and learn how your "grit" score can grow as you tackle your academics and future career. The group will meet for 5 sessions, and participants are encouraged to attend all 5 meetings. For more information or to register, please contact Sam Chan, LCSW-C at firstname.lastname@example.org.
