Time Management is a very important skill to master. Learning this skill will empower you to achieve more and to use your time wisely. Time Management can be improved by following a few simple methods. 1. Manage Time and Set Priorities: - Set Goals
- List your priorities
- Make time your friend
- Use time to create success, not failure
- Define priorities for every commitment
- Identify your goals and do whatever it takes to meet them
- Identify what is most important to you
2. Every Month List Goals and Priorities: Before each month begins, plan ahead. List the goals you want to accomplish for the month then break each goal down into smaller tasks, setting target dates for each. Determine what needs to be done first by setting your priorities. Use your monthly list to keep track of all your commitments. This list will help you concentrate on what needs to be done today! 3. Create a Weekly Calendar: Create a weekly calendar from the target dates you set with your monthly goals. Make it a basic time budgeting guide. List all the things you want to get done that week. Be sure to include schoolwork, study time, work, recreation, meals, TV, exercise, relaxation, and time spent with family and friends. Set aside specific time blocks for study time. Be flexible and willing to adapt to the changes that may arise. It is okay to change your schedule, but always keep your goals in mind. Check your schedule often. If it doesn’t work, change it. 4. Create a “Things to Do” List Daily: Write down all the things that you need to do today to support your weekly goals. Include errands, shopping and personal appointments. This list is a reminder. You can cross off each item when you have accomplished it. Use it to set priorities and to reduce decision-making and worry. If time is tight, move items to your long-term list. Rewrite this list each evening for the next day.
