Professional Experience

From 1985 to 1992, Dr. Murray worked for the Vice Chancellor for Planning and Policy Analysis at the State University of New York Central Administration. At SUNY Central Administration, he was responsible for managing research and information systems projects and communicating with many different constituencies in each of the sixty-four colleges and universities in the State University of New York system. In 1992, Dr. Murray was hired as the Director of Planning at The Catholic University of America. In 1995, he was appointed the University's first Chief Information Officer. In February 2000, he was appointed Vice Provost and Chief Information Officer. During his tenure at CUA, Dr. Murray provided the technology vision and leadership for technology initiatives developed and implemented at the University. As CIO, he had oversight of the budget and operations of the Center for Planning and Information Technology, which included Academic Services, Information Technology, Information Systems and Services, Institutional Planning and Research, Telecommunications, Systems Administration, Data Communications, Computer Operations, and the Information Center technology help operation.

Dr. Murray has written extensively and has made numerous presentations. He is currently serving on the national technology EduCAUSE Current Issues Committee.
