Purchasing Information for Microsoft Software for Work-At-Home (Microsoft, Symantec, Adobe)

Paid faculty and staff of the University of Maryland:

Microsoft Software can be purchased and installed on machines that are owned by the individual, and must be used for work-related purposes only.  Software must be uninstalled by the individual after they leave the University.  Each media is encrypted for TWO INSTALLATIONS only on ONE machine, and they have a special key code that cannot be replaced if lost or oversubscribed.

Microsoft, Symantec, and Adobe Software can be purchased on-line at, and paid for with a credit card, or may be purchased in person by the individual at the Software Licensing Office and paid for with a JE Form.

Where to purchase?

If paying by credit card:                                       

  • Paid faculty/staff (paid by the State of Maryland) and students (registered) can purchase software by ordering on-line at
  • During the ordering process, you can decide whether to pick up the order at the Software Licensing Office, in Suite 540 of the HS/HSL, or to have it shipped to you via US Mail for an additional $5 fee.

If paying with a Journal Entry Authorization form:

Must show a UM One Card at time of purchase.  Must be an active employee.

Returns/exchanges are not accepted.  All software sales are FINAL. We cannot ensure the software has not been installed or copied, and therefore cannot accept returns.
