Symantec

Symantec Antivirus is a software application designed to prevent the infection of virus that infect computer equipment.  Using Symantec AntiVirus, you can establish and enforce antivirus security policies; retrieve content updates, such as virus definitions; control live viruses; configure realtime scanning; schedule virus scans; and analyze logged events.  The University of Maryland, Baltimore has entered into a software licensing contract with Symantec Corporation to provide access to Symantec AntiVirus software at the best price possible.

Who is Eligible

The software is available to Faculty, Staff and Students of the University for use on their home personal computers via the HS/HSL Circulation Desk

The software is available to Departments via the Software Licensing Office

What is the cost

The cost of the software for home personal use is $30

The current cost for participating in the Symantec contract is $26.50 per license which is valid till March 30th, 2006.  Departments should provide the number of departmental computers to the software licensing office to determine the appropriate licensing needed.
