Dave Pitts announced that we are not doing the road show scheduled for Feb at the Dental School per word from Bob Bennett.

Brent Nickles brought up the issue that SON had with Course Copy on a course with Flash content.  If a course contains Flash content, course copy does not work (the course copy fails so that nothing is copied).  The workaround currently is to remove the Flash content, perform the course copy, and put the Flash content back in the new course after a successful course copy.

Action Item:  Brent Nickles will email all faculty through Blackboard to let them know of the issue.

Brent Nickles brought up (again) the issue of archiving courses.  He is requesting (again) to test the archiving process.

Action Item: Each member should give Brent Nickles a sample course that was exported and archived to CD.  Instructions are to Export Course and the Grade Book separately.  Let Brent know which course can be deleted (I am assuming these are courses that people are willing to lose if the export archive function did not work?).  Give Brent the exported course on CD to test the ability to restore if need be.  It is the responsibility of the individual schools to make sure that the course did or did not restore in its entirety.  Also test the exported grade book file (this can be done locally at your own computer).  This is not part of the export course function and is not part of the restore so this has to be done separately.

Brent Nickles also discussed the New Email Server.  CITS went live with the new email server this past weekend.  Open Webmail allows users to change their password through the application instead of having to go through Telnet.  This is truly an email server.  Shell access has been removed.  So far the only problems have been MAC users with certain versions of client Eudora are not SSL compatible.

Shannon Tucker volunteered to have the next meeting at the school of Pharmacy where she will demo Secure Exam and Soft TV.  The next meeting will be located at Pharmacy Hall room 714 at 9:30 am on Thursday the 18th of March.  This room is scheduled/reserved.

Brent Nickles stated that at a meeting prior to the holidays that Dr. Murray wanted to make the Level 3 capabilities of Blackboard a priority.  This would ultimately integrate Blackboard and student services like registration.

Brent Nickles also reported that the modem bank is officially gone.

Dave Pitts reported that the following URL http://www.utsystem.edu is a good resource for copyright issues.

The next meeting will be Thursday, March 18, 2004 at the Pharmacy Hall room 714 at 9:30 am.  This later date will allow those attending the Blackboard Users Conference in Phoenix, AZ from March 9-11 to share information from that experience.
